This week’s Coffee & Conversation drew a full room of IBWC members, and it turned into one of our favorite mornings of the year. Our guest speaker, Sabine Grant of LSI Media, walked in with one promise: no jargon, no hype, just a clear look at what AI actually is and how to put it to work in a small business. Judging by the questions afterward, and the number of phones out taking photos of slides, she delivered. By the end of the hour, every person in that room had picked up something new, whether it was their first real explanation of how these tools work or a prompt they could use the very next day.

Sabine started by clearing the air. A lot of the hesitation people feel about AI has less to do with the technology itself and more to do with three quiet worries: will it replace me, am I too far behind to catch up, and is this even going to matter in a year. She talked through all three honestly before getting into the mechanics. From there, she broke down what AI actually is in plain English, a very well read prediction machine, not a search engine, walked the room through the handful of tools worth knowing, and gave everyone a simple five part formula for writing prompts that actually work: role, task, context, format, and limits. She put it into action with two real examples, a set of social media captions for a small bakery and a reply to a tough online review, and the room watched the difference a well built prompt makes in real time.

The second half of the session was all about putting this to work. Sabine covered a feature called Projects, something most people in the room had never heard of, that lets a business owner teach an AI tool about their business once instead of explaining themselves every single time. She walked through where AI tends to pay off fastest for small business owners, marketing, admin, and customer replies chief among them, and even touched on two tricks most people miss entirely: generating simple images and dictating instead of typing. Members left with a thirty day plan they can start Monday, fifteen minutes a day, nothing more. If there is one thing we hope every IBWC member walked away with, it is this: you do not need to become an AI expert to benefit from it.

You just need to start.

Thank you to Sabine Grant and LSI Media for such a generous and down to earth session, and to You’ve Got Maids of NOVA for hosting us.

We can’t wait for the next one.
